The right way of brushing your Hair
Correct hair brushing stimulate the blood circulation to the scalp, help remove dust, dirt and hair spray buildup from the hair; and gives hair added shine. You should include a through hair brushing as part of every shampoo and scalp treatment, regardless of heather your hair and scalp are dry or oil. But keep these exceptions in mind;
- Do not brush before giving a chemical service (Shampooing)
- Do not brush before if the scalp is irritated
- Never brush the scalp
Also, never use a comb to loosen scales from the scalp. The most highly recommended hairbrushes are those made from natural bristles, natural bristle have nay tiny overlapping layer or scales, which clean and add luster to their hair. Hairbrushes with nylon bristle are shiny and smooth and are fine for hair styling.
To brush the hair, first part it through the center from front to nape. Then part a section about ½ inch (1.25cm) off the center parting to the crown of the head. Hold this section of hair in your left hand. Rotate the brush by turning the wrist slightly and sweep the bristles the full length of the hair shaft. Repeat three times. Then part the hair again ½ inch from the first parting and continue until the entire head has been brushed
To help keep those lovely heads of yours looking full, here are some tips for brushing your hair;
·
Dry your hair by wrapping it in a towel after a shower of bath.
Another alternative is letting your hair air-dry;
·
Most people should handle wet hair as little as possible as it
breaks more easily when combed or brushed. However, people with tightly curled
or textured hair should brush when wet to decrease the chances of breakage;
·
Keep brushing to a minimum. Remember, 100 strokes a day can
cause split ends and also some hair loss so back away from the brush;
·
Reduce the use of ‘long-lasting hold’ styling products. Using a
comb to style your hair after you apply the product can cause the hair to break
and can lead to hair loss over time;
·
Allow your hair to partially air-dry before you style or comb.
Decreasing the number of times per week that you blow dry can also limit
damage;
·
Straighteners should be used on dry hair on a low or medium
setting, no more often than every other day. If using a curling iron, only
leave it in place for a second or two. No matter your hair type, excessive heat
can damage it;
·
Do not continuously wear braids, cornrows, ponytails and hair
extensions. These styles pull on thee hair and can cause tension that leads to
breakage. If the tension continues permanent hair loss can develop.
