Techniques for applying Nail tips

Nail wrapping is a corrective treatment that forms a protective coating for a damaged or fragile nail. Nail wraps can be applied over the natural nail or over a set of tips. Silk, linen, fiberglass, and paper are among the materials commonly used in this procedure. Follow the follow Techniques for nail wrapping;

Implement and Materials.

Nail wrap fabric, small, sharp scissors for cutting fabric, nail adhesive, adhesive dryer, small piece of plastic, medium fine file, buffer back, Nail bleach, Dry nail polish, Cuticle remover, cuticle oil, Liquid nail polish, Nail bleach, Nail conditioner, Nail dryer, Nail hardener, Formaldehyde hardeners, Nylon fiber hardeners, Polish remover, Polish thinner, Scalar.

Preparation.

  • Rinse all implements wit cool running water and the wash them with soap and warm water. Make sure the brush all grooved items and any open hinges.

  • Rinse the implements in plain warm water, taking care to wash away all traces of soap, which can interact with disinfectants and cause them to become inactive.

  • Dry thoroughly with a clean and/or disposable towel.

  • Completely immerse all implements in PA registered hospital level disinfectant for the required time (usually 10 minutes) Use tong or rubber gloves to avoid skin contact with the disinfectant.

  • Wash your hand with liquid soap and warm water. Rinse well and dry with a clean and/or disposable towel.

  • Remove the implements from the disinfectant solution with tongs or while wearing rubber gloves, and rinse them well in water. Wipe them dry with a clean and/or disposable towel to prevent rusting.
  • Generally, sanitized implements are stored in scaled containers or kept in a closed cabinet sanitizer until ready to be used.

Procedure.

1.Remove any old polish from the client’s nail, working from little finger to thumb.

2.Push back the cuticle.

3.Buff the nails to remove shine and any natural oils. Remove the dust.

4.Select the proper size tip. Make sure it completely covers the nail plate form sidewall to sidewall but never cover more than half the length of the nail. Trip the tip to the right size if the well cover too much of the nail.

5.Apply nail antiseptic to remove the remaining natural oil and to dehydrate the nail for better adhesion. Again, bean with the little finger. If you accidentally touch the nails after you apply antiseptic, you must clean them again and reapply antiseptic.

6.apply adhesive on the nail plate to cover the area where the tip will be placed.

Do not let adhesive run onto the skin. Apply adhesive from the middle of the nail plate to the free edge. An alternate method Is to apply adhesive to the well of the tip. This may ensure that fewer air bubbles are trapped in the adhesive.

7.Apply a bead of adhesive to the seam between the natural nail plate and the tip to strengthened the stress point.

Trim the nail tip to the desire length, using a tip clipper or large nail clippers. Cut from one side, then the other, if you are using the nail clipper. Cutting the tip straight across weakens the plastics.

9.Blend the tip into the natural nail. File the shine off the tip, keeping the file flat on the nail at all times. Never hold the file at an angle, because doing so can form a groove in the nail plate.

10. buff the tip for a perfect blend between the natural nail plate and the tip extension. There should be no visible line or cloudless between the two.

Shape the nail.

11.Proceed with any other services that may be desired. Tips are seldom worn without an additional service such as wraps, acrylic, or gels. If your client is only waring tips as a temporary service, add a drop of cuticle oil to each nail and then buff.
